Dear Sir/Madame,I am writing to you to appeal for your help. My name is Bakhodir Choriyev and I am a leader of opposition Birdamlik movement of Uzbekistan.
My father, 71 years old Hasan Choriev was illegally detained on June 17th by police in Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan and he remains in custody since then without any formal charges against him. Attempts of his lawyer to see him are being continuously refused by Kashkadarya Prosecution Office. My father is an old man, who in the last two years suffered stroke and a heart attack and I believe that by detaining him, Uzbek authorities are trying to put pressure on Birdamlik movement to stop its political activities.
Please find attached our appeal for the release of Hasan Choriyev and I do ask you to do everything possible to facilitate his release from custody.
